Fall Tips

Things to think about as fall is here and winter is approaching.

Tree Wraps

Tree wraps prepare your tree for winter and  protect it from frost cracking and animal damage.  Make sure you pick up a tree wrap sooner rather than later.  Your tree will thank you.

Animal Repellents
Keep deer and rabbits away with natural repellents like "Liquid Fence" and "Repels All".

Perennial & Rose Care
Perennials can be cut back after a few hard frosts.  Generally 1-2" from ground level.  Grasses can be left until spring to maintain winter interest.  Do not cut back shrub roses to the ground in the fall.  Can be trimmed slightly to maintain shape.  It is not neccessary to cover shrub roses with rose cones.

If you have any questions on this or anything else to do with plant health be sure to give Katie a call at 722-4600.  She is our plant health and disease expert.
  Remember Fall is for Planting.

Thanks for your time.

Gardening Tips
Freshen up annual containers with frost tolerant mums, asters, grasses, & ornamental kale.  For more ideas check with Katie.

We will be having fresh evergreen stems this year again.  So plan ahead for your winter container.  Here are some of the containers we did last year.

Planting
Now is the perfect time to plant.  The cooler weather spurs on root growth and also with this weather there is less stress on the plant and less watering.  We always say we will do it in the spring.  Why not do it now and enjoy it in the spring.
