Gardening Tips

I will answer a couple of questions I hear a lot of people coming into the Garden Center asking.
Can I plant in the Summer?
Well of course you can.  The plants are already planted(in their pots).  They are looking for a better home than those hot, black, plastic pots.  You can give them a nice home with a bigger hole and more space to grow.  The plants will also have a better root system by the time the cold winter rolls around.  If you plant in summer the main thing is to keep things watered because there is less rainfall in the summer than in spring and fall and temps are quite a bit warmer.  If you are worried on how much to water we have a handout that informs you how much to water.
Do I have to still water?
Lots of people have called or stopped in with questions on watering plants.  Although we have received a lot of rainfall this spring you still do need to water this summer if we do not get rain.  Your newly planted plants (planted in the last 3 years)  are not camels, they do store some water but you still need to help them.  The first couple years are very important in a plants life in establishing a wonderful root system.  Just like I mentioned earlier if you have questions we have literature that can help.  As a rule of thumb give your plants one inch of water a week.
Looking for that perfect Silk Arrangement?
silk
Bert, Edie, and Evie have been busy coming up with some more of the freshest ideas around.  They are making beautiful silk arrangements to show you for our 10th anniversary.  These are not your ordinary silk pieces, they are very versatile.  Most of our arrangements are hand-tied, meaning the stems are all tied together and not glued in the pot like most silk arrangements.  Therefore you can choose the container and arrangement to match your decor.  You need to come and see the arrangements they have done to appreciate them.

Have a great summer and hope to see you all next week.

Thanks for your time.

Scavenger Hunt
Saturday from 10am until 1pm we will be having a kids scavenger hunt with many prizes.  It should be a fun and educational time had by the kids and maybe even some of the parents.  We also will have a bouncy castle for the kids to play on.

Kids Gifts
Need some gift ideas for kids?   We have beetle barns, butterfly houses, ant hills, and other fun kids gifts that kids can enjoy while learning about nature.

Do it Yourselfer?
Don't be intimidated by landscaping, we can make it easy.  Come in with a picture of your place and we can help with plant arrangement.  Or we can come set plants out at your house.  Just pick out your plants, then we come to your house and set them out and arrange them to your liking.  What doesn't work, we take back, and what does work you can plant or we can plant it.

Welcome Ernie

As some of you know Bert (our talented hollander) had his dog buddy pass away over a month ago.  This week he is taking some time off to welcome his new dog named Ernie.  So stop in for our 10th anniversary to congratulate Bert on getting his new dog Ernie
